Tried to paste it here but the smartphone app is being finicky. Just search in the blog for Water Launch.

Note that despite this, pterosaurs may not have been able to float nicely and safely on the surface. Work by Dave Hone and Don Henderson suggests that many pterosaurs would passively float in a manner that would drown them. This does not preclude the launching, but it means that water launches were probably emergency scenarios.Michael Habibhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03641371798541261487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8901109112306976205.post-13415728032804074512012-07-15T14:02:52.817-04:002012-07-15T14:02:52.817-04:00Could pterosaurs launch themselves from the surfac...Could pterosaurs launch themselves from the surface of the water? I have seen a lot of reconstructions of Pteranodon and other "shore pterosaurs" that depict them floating on the ocean, but I'm skeptical. Any insight?alaskanimehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08299289638870579061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8901109112306976205.post-84327537129268071252012-07-13T21:32:40.294-04:002012-07-13T21:32:40.294-04:00I can attest to the burst launch: I was hiking acr...I can attest to the burst launch: I was hiking across a field once and literally almost stepped on a turkey, which exploded out of the deep grass to get away.Thomas R.
